Coronavirus did not disrupt Azerbaijan-Russia trade
Baku/20.05.21/Turan: On Thursday, May 20, in Moscow in an expanded format between the heads of government of Azerbaijan and Russia held talks in an expanded format. The head of the Russian government Mikhail Mishustin, welcoming the Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Ali Asadov, noted the need to bring them to a higher level, fill them with new content.
“In 2020, in difficult conditions, when there was a coronavirus, we did not allow a significant reduction in mutual trade. And already at the beginning of this year, from January to March, we increased the trade turnover by almost 3.5%, which is about $ 680 million, which is a good figure,” Mishustin said.
He noted that, “the statements of the leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia and Russia, adopted after the end of hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh, opened up opportunities for a more comprehensive development of the region. I am convinced that the unblocking of economic and transport links, the creation of new infrastructure routes meet the interests of all states of the South Caucasus."
“Thanks to the personal participation and political will of our presidents, the relations between our states have reached the level of strategic partnership and are developing successfully. Also, active work is underway between governments and relevant ministries and departments,” Ali Asadov said in response.
According to him, the Azerbaijani leadership highly appreciates the role by the Russian Federation during the 44-day war.
“We highly appreciate and are fully committed to the fulfillment of the commitments noted in the statement of November 9 (10th in our case) by the presidents of Azerbaijan, Russia and the Prime Minister of Armenia ...
Azerbaijan, for its part, is fully committed and will fulfill all the commitments it took on myself within the framework of the statement of November 9 (10) and January 11," he said
Asadov invited Mishustin to pay an official visit to Azerbaijan at any convenient time. As a result of today's talks, a number of agreements were signed to deepen cooperation in a number of areas.
