Court Rejects Appeal by Siraj Kerimli
The Baku Appeals Court today rejected the complaint from the "prisoner of conscience" Siraj Kerimli about the sentence depriving him of liberty for 6 years on charges of illegal possession and sale of drugs on a large scale.
Turan was told by the lawyer Nemat Kerimli. The defense intends to file an appeal to the Supreme Court of Azerbaijan.
Siraj is the son of an activist of the party Musavat Raghif Kerimli and a brother of the Deputy Chairman of the organization Faraj Kerimli, who was imprisoned for 6.5 years on the same charges. The brothers were arrested a year ago.
Amnesty International has recognized Siraj and Faraj Kerimli "prisoners of conscience". -06B-
