Court Rejects Appeal from Arrested Opposition Leader
Today, the Sumgayit Court of Appeal dismissed an appeal from Mustafa Hajibayli, activist with the “Musavat” party. He was alleging unlawful arrest. According to Nemat Karimli, Hajibayli’s lawyer, the judge did not substantiate his decision.
Hajibayli was arrested on May 28 after an opposition rally in the village of Novkhana and charged with disorderly conduct. The Absheron court ordered him to be held for 15 days. -16D-
