Does Iran promise investments to Armenia?
"I'll keep under my personal supervision the large Iranian investments," promised the President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan, speaking on December 21 at the Armenian-Iranian business forum together with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani. According to him, he asked Iranian counterpart to strengthen Iranian investments in Armenia.
"We expect this investment and we want to bring the economic potential to the level of very developed political relations. We use only a small part of the potential in the trade. There is a good experience of cooperation in the energy sector, but we need to extend it to other sectors," said Sargsyan.
Armenia offers good opportunities for transit of goods from Iran to the Black Sea and further to Europe. The route "North - South", along which is built the concrete highway is the shortest way to do this. Trade and investment will be more effective if to remove obstacles to the movement of goods between the two countries, as well as to establish cooperation between the free economic zones on the banks of the Arax River, said Sargsyan. -02D-
