Embassy of Japan to hold presentation of 3 projects
Baku/27.08.22/Turan: The Embassy of Japan reports that on August 30-31, a presentation of 3 projects funded under the Grant Assistance Program of the Government of Japan will be held in Aghdam, Ujar and Gazakh:
1) Presentation of the newly built Family Health Center in the village of Bargushad, Ujar region (August 30, starts at 11:40).
The aim of the project is to create a Family Health Center with offices of gynecology, dentistry, medical examination and care in the village of Bargushad and to further improve the availability of medical services for residents of Bargushad, Upper Shilyan, Bagban and the village of Boyat.
For the implementation of this project, the Government of Japan has allocated a grant in the amount of 146,864 manats (86,391 US dollars).
2) Presentation ceremony of the restored irrigation system in the village of Ballar, Agdam region (August 30, starts at 15:30).
The aim of the project to restore the irrigation system in 9 villages of Aghdam region is to restore the artesian irrigation system of the villages of Guzanly, Alibeyli, Ballar, Birinji Yuzbashly, Beybabalar, Buyukbeyli, Imamgulubeyli, Kalbakhuseynli, Eyvazly. Agricultural land withdrawn from circulation in these 9 villages, as a result of reuse, will provide an increase in farmers' incomes.
For the implementation of this project, the Government of Japan has allocated a grant in the amount of 152,699 manats (89,823 US dollars).
3) Presentation ceremony of the newly built irrigation system in the village of Bala Chaily of Gazakh district (August 31 at 10:30).
The purpose of the project "Installation of an irrigation system in the village of Bala Chaili of Gazakh district" is to promote the development of the agricultural sector and increase farmers' incomes due to supplying irrigation water to agricultural lands in the villages of Bala Chaili, Urkmezli and Demirchilar by installing an irrigation system in the village of Bala Chaily of Gazakh region.
To implement this project, the Government of Japan has allocated a grant in the amount of 152,826 manats (89,898 US dollars).
To date, the total number of projects implemented within the framework of the Grant Assistance Program of the Government of Japan in Azerbaijan has amounted to 278, and the total amount of funds has exceeded 39,865,000 manats (23,450,000 US dollars).

According to the Turkish newspaper Sabah, officials from the Istanbul Prosecutor's Office's Anti-Smuggling Unit have detained an Azerbaijani citizen with a large shipment of gold. The detention took place near the Vadi İstanbul shopping center in the Sarıyer district, where a taxi was stopped. During the search, 70 kg of gold was found. The Azerbaijani citizen in the vehicle claimed ownership of the cargo and also stated that he was a diplomat. The investigation by the prosecutor's office is ongoing, reports Sabah newspaper. The media outlet does not disclose the name of the "diplomat," only his initials – M.G.Ş. The Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs has declined to comment on the situation.

On November 22, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan discussed negotiations with Azerbaijan regarding a peace treaty in an interview with Public TV. In particular, he emphasized that society should move away from certain stereotypes. “We are outraged when we hear the term ‘Western Azerbaijan.’ But we don’t think that when we say ‘Western Armenia,’ it also irritates anyone,” he stated.
