Ex-NATO chief calls for sanctions against Azerbaijan
Baku/14.03.23/Turan: Former NATO Secretary General Anders Rasmussen, who is in Armenia, has made serious accusations against Azerbaijan and its leadership.
He called on the European Union to put pressure on Azerbaijan for refusing to open the Lachin corridor despite the decision of the International Court of Justice.
"The EU has an agreement with Azerbaijan in the energy sector, and this can be used as a pressure factor. It is possible that President Ilham Aliyev is an autocrat like Putin, but I do not think that Aliyev will want to be in the same situation that President Putin found himself in. I once again call on Aliyev to end the blockade of Nagorno-Karabakh," he said in an interview with reporters.
Today Rasmussen visited Goris, where he communicated with the "refugees" from Karabakh. According to him, "a humanitarian catastrophe is possible in Karabakh if the road is not opened."
He also said that he arrived in Armenia at the invitation of the government and will promote the rapprochement of Yerevan with Brussels. Rasmussen currently heads the "Rasmussen Global" lobbying organization. ---02D---
