Excitement around the Armenian missiles is unjustified
Baku / 19.09.16 / Turan: In recent days Azerbaijani media and web resources are full of materials on the supply of Russian medium-range missiles "Iskander" in Armenia. "Experts" analyze the consequences of this in a future war. A primary source of this information was the Armenian resource "Novostnik", which tells that now Armenia is able to strike any point of Azerbaijan and destroy its oil infrastructure, command headquarters, and so forth. At the same time, the edition published photos from the rehearsal of the military parade in Yerevan, as a proof that the weapons of the Armenians.
But surprisingly, our local "experts" were not able to evaluate what they see. So, what's so special was shown in Yerevan? The fact that some Armenian media have presented as "Iskander" outdated "Scud" Soviet missiles that were in Armenia back in the mid 90s. Since then the Armenians threaten to shoot, but the missiles have long been decommissioned as morally and physically obsolete.
With regard to their threats, the existing system in Azerbaijan "C 300" and "Iron Dome" can intercept these missiles. In addition, at the parade in Yerevan were two systems "Smerch", which Armenia did not have. However, Armenians humbly suggest that in the parade also involved forces and means of the 102nd Russian military base.
In any case, Armenia has not officially announced that it has acquired "Smerch" systems in Russia, on the contrary, Yerevan always complains of the loan of $200 million for the purchase of weapons that does not work.
Thus, the acquisition of the modern weapons capable of altering the balance of power in favor of Armenia, is not confirmed. Even if we assume that Armenia received two "Smerch" systems , according to "Wikipedia", Azerbaijan has 24 such plants.
Earlier, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan himself admitted that Azerbaijan is able to hit Armenia from the territory of Nakhchivan, to which there are about 50 km, and the flight range missiles from the "Smerch" is 72 km. -02В-
