Foreign Minister Discusses Restoration of Karabakh with International Donors
Baku / 30.12.20 / Turan: On December 29, Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan Gulam Isakzai, UNDP Resident Representative in Azerbaijan Alessandro Fracassetti, EU Representative in Azerbaijan Kestutis Yankauskas and Head of the World Bank Office in Azerbaijan Saida Bagirli.
According to the press service of the Foreign Ministry, the meeting discussed issues of post-conflict reconstruction and support, as well as demining the territories affected by the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
Representatives of the UN, EU and World Bank expressed their readiness to conduct an appropriate assessment of the territories of Azerbaijan affected by the conflict, including Nagorno-Karabakh, prepare a report and share recommendations with the Azerbaijani side in accordance with the existing methodology. -05D-

According to the Turkish newspaper Sabah, officials from the Istanbul Prosecutor's Office's Anti-Smuggling Unit have detained an Azerbaijani citizen with a large shipment of gold. The detention took place near the Vadi İstanbul shopping center in the Sarıyer district, where a taxi was stopped. During the search, 70 kg of gold was found. The Azerbaijani citizen in the vehicle claimed ownership of the cargo and also stated that he was a diplomat. The investigation by the prosecutor's office is ongoing, reports Sabah newspaper. The media outlet does not disclose the name of the "diplomat," only his initials – M.G.Ş. The Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs has declined to comment on the situation.
