Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia Met in Paris
On Saturday in Paris, a meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia - Elmar Mammadyarov and Edward Nalbandian took place. As the press service of the Foreign Ministry said, the meeting was also attended by the OSCE Minsk Group - Robert Bradtke (USA), Jacques Faure (France) and Igor Popov (Russia), as well as the personal representative of the OSCE Chairman Andrzej Kasprzyk.
The meeting was an expression of concern about the situation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict.
Also held were extensive consultations and discussions about changing the status quo or leaving the stagnant situation in the conflict resolution process. The parties reaffirmed their commitment to continue efforts for a peaceful settlement of the conflict.
Also discussed was the visit to the region of OSCE Minsk Group upcoming in the second half of November.
Note that this is the first meeting between the Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia after the extradition and release on August 31 of the Azerbaijani officer Ramil Safarov, convicted in Hungary for the murder of an Armenian officer. This decision led to anti-Azerbaijani hysteria in Armenia and Yerevan even threatened to stop negotiations with Azerbaijan. -06D -
