Georgian President travels to Baku
Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili at a briefing in Tbilisi said that on February 27 he would make a visit to Azerbaijan. Nothing was reported on the details of his trip, stating that among the delegation members is also Gigi Ugulava. However, a lawsuit was filed against the mayor, and the prosecutor office demanded him not to leave the country.
Official Baku has not yet reported on the visit of the President of Georgia.
* Ugulava is accused of misappropriation of the TV Company "Imedi", the former co-owner of which, an American Joseph Kay, according to investigation, was forced in 2008 to sell his share to the mayor under the pressure of threats. According to investigators, the acquisition was financed through the Tbilisi Mayor Office fictitious transaction. The mayor is also accused of creating fictitious jobs for activists of the "United National Movement". Investigators believe that 764 activists of the ruling party illegally received 4.1 million lari (about $ 2.5 million.) from the capital budget -16D-
