Heydar Aliyev Handed over Documents about Involvement of Nzhdeh and Dashnaks in Holocaust to US
The Armenian nationalist party Dashnaktsutiun during the Second World War cooperated with the Nazi Germany military intelligence Abwehr.
So, the Dashnaks marketed jewelry confiscated from prisoners of the Jew concentration camps in the Middle East.
The relevant documentary evidence was submitted by the President of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev to the Holocaust Museum in Washington in April 1999. In an interview to the news agency Turan’s Chetin Sual column this was said by the former Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Tofig Zulfugarov, who accompanied Heydar Aliyev on the trip.
These documents were found by the Azerbaijani diplomats in the Russian archives in the 1990s. These documents relate to 1947-48 and they were compiled by officers of the Soviet secret police. In particular, these materials were written by questioning Abwehr officers.
They showed that withdrawals of jewelry, gold and diamonds from the Jews was arranged by Abwehr, which through a network of Dashnaktsutyun and the Armenian Diaspora transported them via Amsterdam to the Middle East for sale.
One of the modern heroes of Armenia Garegin Nzhdeh was also involved in this looting. He participated in the punitive operations of the SS.
Zulfugarov said this historical documents officially supported by print volume of several hundred pages were transferred to the Museum of the Holocaust by Heydar Aliyev, and it was a public ceremony.
These documents confirm the involvement of Armenian Dashnaks in the Holocaust.
Armenian units in the SS directly participated in the massacres of Jews and Gypsies.
Zulfugarov reminded that Dashnaktsutyun played a big role in the outbreak of the Karabakh conflict and the killing of Azerbaijani civilians. A large number of Armenian Dashnak militants arrived in Karabakh from Lebanon, Syria and other countries. -C06-
