Russia Imposes Ban on Import of Agricultural Products in Hand Luggage
Russia has banned the import of agricultural products from Azerbaijan as hand luggage. This is due to lack of appropriate supporting documents.
According to the Rules of the Russian Federation pest control, it is required to provide plant sanitary certificates for import of quarantine products - fruits and vegetables if the weight of the products does not exceed 5 kg and if they are not a seed material.
The press service of the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan made a vague explanation of the situation, noting that it is sympathetic to such individual cases in the context of import and export of agricultural products.
SCC notes that the ban on imports of agricultural products from Azerbaijan applied in Russia in early June as a whole has been eliminated after bilateral consultations. The Russian side suspected that Azerbaijan could re-export Turkish products.
Over the past three days, 52 wagons and 161 trucks with vegetables and fruits were sent from Azerbaijan to Russia, the State Customs Committee reported. --0-

Azerbaijan's financial standing continues to strengthen as the country's foreign currency reserves have surged to $71 billion as of January 1, 2025, according to the Ministry of Finance. This figure, which includes reserves held by the State Oil Fund of Azerbaijan (SOFAZ) and the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA), far exceeds the nation's external debt, which stands at a fraction of its reserves, specifically nearly 14 times less.
