How will the results of the elections in the USA affect Washington"s policy towards Azerbaijan
Last night, official start was given to the presidential election in several states of the USA, and people lined up in front of polling stations.
Despite the main candidates for the 57th President of the United States are known, they are the current president, Democrat Barack Obama and Republican Mitt Romney, there are names of a number of candidates in the voting lists.
For example, the Liberal candidate Gary Johnson is a candidate from the 48 states and in some states, and is behind on the popularity of the main contenders. In general in 50 states of the District of Columbia 240 million voters were registered. They witnessed the three televised debates between the main candidates.
The newly elected president will sworn on January 20, 2013 and thus, will take up his duties.
For the first time in recent years, Azerbaijanis and Turks of America, as well as the Armenian Diaspora do not support a particular candidate. However, in the beginning of the year the government of Azerbaijan organized a charter flight of a delegation to the United States delegation, whose members took part in the meeting in support of Democrats with the Vice-President Biden; but the meetings were held at different levels and with the Republicans.
How will the results of the elections affect the U.S. policy with Azerbaijan and the Turkic world?
According to the Washington experts for the Caucasus, no changes are expected in the U.S. policy, and if they are some, they will be very little."
" The Karabakh conflict, the Turkish-Armenian relations, the changes in the Middle East will remain a priority in the policy of official Washington over the next four years, of course, if it meets the interest of the peoples of the region," one of the experts told Turan’s correspondent in Washington.—06B--
