Members of the monitoring group of human rights organizations of Azerbaijan sent an appeal to the country's President Ilham Aliyev, in which they expressed deep concern about the health of the arrested journalist Shahnaz Beylargizi.

The petition notes that the journalist was detained on February 5 in connection with the Toplum TV case and taken into custody for a period of 3.5 months.

Human rights activists draw attention to the fact that Beylargizi suffers from a number of serious diseases, including a brain tumor, diabetes, and hypertension.
Her condition repeatedly worsened during the investigation and trial.
Currently, the journalist is being held under medical supervision in the medical unit of the Kurdakhani pretrial detention center.
Human rights activists also draw attention to the fact that Beylargizi has two minor children.

"Mr. President, we have repeatedly witnessed your attentive attitude to our requests and humanistic attitude. Taking this into account and the above, we ask you to support the release of journalist Shahnaz Beylargizi under house arrest," the appeal signed by members of the monitoring group Novella Jafaroglu, Saida Gojamanli and Saadat Bananyarli says.

The members of the monitoring group also addressed the First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva with a similar request.

"Dear Mehriban khanum, as a mother, you always show great attention and humanistic attitude to women's issues and spare no effort and support in solving them. We, as human rights activists, are witnesses to this. And now we are asking you to help transfer journalist Shahnaz Beylargizi under house arrest, taking into account her illness and the fact that she has two minor children," the appeal of the members of the monitoring group to M. Aliyeva says.
