IDI initiates public debate around electoral laws
The Institute of Democratic Initiative (IDI) on the eve of parliamentary elections in 2015 conducted a study on compliance with Azerbaijani legislation with international standards in the field of free, fair and transparent elections, stated press-release sent to Turan. In particular, were studied legislation regulating the issues of the election atmosphere and the election process itself.
Initial results of the study will be discussed by the political parties, civil society and international organizations.
The purpose of public hearings is to draw attention to the problems of the electoral process and promoting their elimination.
IDI was established in 2013. However, the Ministry of Justice has repeatedly denied state registration of the organization. NGOs appeal the actions of the Justice Ministry in court. The issue is under litigation. The head of the IDI is a CEC member Akif Gurbanov, who has been delegated top this organ by “Umid” party. - 06D-
