Ilham Aliyev has Rregistered as a Presidential Ccandidate for president
On Sunday CEC registered the incumbent head of state Ilham Aliyev as a candidate in the presidential election on October 9.
Thus, Aliyev became the first registered presidential candidate.
His candidacy for the presidency for a third term was put forward by his ruling New Azerbaijan Party (NAP).
It should be noted that the leaders of the opposition parties and movements in Azerbaijan believe illegitimate the extension of Ilham Aliyev as president for a third time.
Earlier, the CEC approved 15 candidates for president, who will collect 40,000 voters' signatures.
In addition, the CEC is considering the approval of the primary and backup candidates for the presidency from the opposition National Council of Democratic Forces (NCDF) Rustam Ibrahimbekov and Jamil Hasanli. -06D -
