Ilham Aliyev: Officials Must Serve People
Baku / 05/01/19 / Turan: Officials must constantly deal with the problems of citizens, President Ilham Aliyev said at yesterday's meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan, dedicated to the results of the first quarter of 2019.
"The heads and responsible persons of the relevant executive bodies were instructed to constantly deal with the problems of citizens. Heads of districts should be constantly in villages and towns, listen to the problems of citizens, not remain indifferent, and provide support. Very serious reforms are being carried out in this sphere," Aliyev said.
"The social and economic indicators achieved in the first quarter of this year demonstrate that we are on the right track. In recent years, various reforms have been carried out, and over the past 15 years there is no second such country in the world that would economically develop like Azerbaijan. We have implemented large infrastructure projects, improved people's well-being, and created a solid foundation for further development," he said.
Speaking about the shortcomings, Aliyev particularly criticized Azerigaz. "There are signals that there are problems with both meters and gas quality. All this should be eliminated. In all areas - the supply of electricity, drinking water and natural gas, there should be transparency and fairness," Aliyev said.
The President also pointed to the creation of obstacles for investors in some cases.
"We must attract a potential investor, look for him, and prove to him that we need investment in Azerbaijan. However, in some cases, barriers are artificially created before local or foreign companies. This is completely unacceptable," he said.
Regarding the Karabakh conflict, Aliyev noted the unchanged position of Azerbaijan. "Our principled position is that this issue should be resolved within the framework of our country's territorial integrity, on the basis of resolutions adopted by international organizations, in accordance with the Helsinki Final Act and the resolutions of the UN Security Council. There is no other approach," Aliyev said. -06B--
