Ilham Aliyev: Pardon of Ramil Safarov is legal
Extradition and pardon of Ramil Safarov was legal, said President Ilham Aliyev at a briefing with NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen.
Aliyev said that the extradition of Safarov corresponds to the European Convention, and his pardon to the laws of Azerbaijan. "Anyone who says that in this case the law has been broken, does not know the realities. Armenia wants to preserve the status quo in the negotiation process, and therefore uses this issue," Ilham Aliyev was quoted as saying by pro-government media.
Then Ilham Aliyev reminded that members of the terrorist attack at the Orly Airport in Paris, the victims of which became citizens of European countries and the USA, not being a citizen of Armenia, was extradited to the country, pardoned and promoted to the rank of the hero.
It is noteworthy that the press service of President Ilham Aliyev and state media have not published a report from the briefing. -02D-
