Ilham Aliyev: Protection of Stability Is Main Task
Baku / 05.24.19 / Turan: Azerbaijan has established close friendly and fraternal ties with all Muslim countries and as an active member of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation makes a valuable contribution to strengthening Islamic solidarity. This was stated by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, speaking at an Iftar dinner on May 23, hosted by Sheikh-ul-Islam, chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Department, Allahshukur Pashazadeh.
Azerbaijan and Muslim countries constantly support each other in the international arena, the President stressed.
"Today, when tensions continue in the world, maintaining stability in Azerbaijan, improving the well-being of the people and protecting the country from possible risks are our main objectives," the President continued.
He stressed that Azerbaijan brings Islam to the world as it is, as a religion of peace and mercy, and this activity will continue in the future.
Touching upon the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Aliyev reiterated that Nagorno-Karabakh has historically been Azerbaijani land, and the territorial integrity of our country must be restored.
He stressed that historical and religious monuments are protected in Azerbaijan, and in recent years hundreds of mosques have been built and repaired. "Interreligious relations are regulated at the highest level in our country. The whole world knows and accepts these realities. Today, Azerbaijan has become a center for interfaith dialogue on a global scale. The sustainable development of Azerbaijan will be ensured in the future, and all the tasks facing the country will be fulfilled," Aliyev said. -06D--
