Ilham Aliyev Receives Representative of US Department of State
Baku / 06.02.18 / Turan: The President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, received Bridget A. Brink, Deputy Assistant Secretary BUREAU OF EUROPEAN AND EURASIAN AFFAIRS, the website of the President of Azerbaijan says.
Details of the meeting are not disclosed. It is noteworthy that Brink is the first Western diplomat with whom Aliyev meets after the announcement of an extraordinary presidential election.
In the Department of State, Brink is responsible for US relations with Ukraine, Georgia, Moldova, Belarus, Armenia and Azerbaijan. In recent years, she has visited all these countries more than once.
During the meeting, a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation, including energy, and in particular the implementation of the Southern Gas Corridor project, and the Karabakh conflict were discussed.
An exchange of views took place on issues of democratic development, ensuring the rule of law, and protecting human rights.-02D-
