Baku/06.11.23/Turan: Prospects for the development of relations between Azerbaijan and Croatia were discussed today at a meeting in Baku between President Ilham Aliyev and Prime Minister of the Balkan country Andrei Plenkovich.
The sides touched upon issues of expanding trade and economic ties, cooperation in energy, tourism and other spheres, the website of the head of state. The importance of an early meeting of the intergovernmental commission and the development of ties between the business circles of the two countries was emphasized.
Croatia's intention to support Azerbaijan in the field of mine clearance and exchange of experience in this area was positively received. The sides also touched upon regional issues of mutual interest.
Croatia, as a member of the European Union and NATO, supports Azerbaijan's cooperation with these institutions, the message says. ---06B---

Rashad Melikzade, the former head of the financial department at the Training and Education Center of the Ministry of Defense and a lieutenant colonel, has been sentenced to 10 years and 6 months in prison. The verdict was issued on Monday by the Baku Serious Crimes Court. The court also ordered the seizure of property belonging to Melikzade and his family, valued at 2 million manats, to compensate for the damage caused to the state.
