Iran, Azerbaijan and Georgia launch Persian Gulf-Black Sea transit route
Baku/09.12.21/Turan: Iran, Azerbaijan and Georgia are launching a transit route to connect the Persian Gulf and the Black Sea. This was stated by the head of the Road and Transportation Organization of Iran Javad Hedayati to the ISNA News Agency.
According to him, a trilateral agreement has been reached on this issue. Note that that the initiative on the transit route has been put forward by Iran.
In compliance with the agreement, there will be a trial transit of goods from Iran's Astara to Azerbaijan and on to ports in Georgia, and from there to Bulgaria and other Eastern European countries,
This route is expected to greatly benefit the countries of East and South Asia, linking them to Eastern Europe.
It matters most for Iran as welll, for Europe is one of the main export destinations for Iranian petrochemicals, Hedayati said.
The implementation of the project puts an end to Yerevan's expectations that Iran will build a new road through Armenia to Georgia to trade with Europe. -02D-
