Iran showed deliberate disrespect to Azerbaijan - I. Aliyev
Baku/13.10.21/Turan: The accusations about the placement of Israeli facilities on the liberated lands are groundless, said the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev in an interview with the Italian newspaper La Repubblica.
An interview published on Wednesday, said that the reason for the aggravation of relations with Iran is that this country is illegally transporting goods to Karabakh. "This is unacceptable. Our message was simple - stop it!” Aliyev said. According to him, this was not made public, but said in a friendly way.
No adequate response was given to this warning. After that, a diplomatic note had to be sent, the ambassador was invited and announced to the public. However, the opposite happened, the number of trucks from Iran to Karabakh only increased, Aliyev said.
“We regarded this as a deliberate disrespect. After that, other legal measures were taken, which led to threats from the neighboring country, and military exercises began in our borders, ”Aliyev said.
He further hinted that the new Iranian government has failed foreign policy, recalling that relations with the previous Iranian government were very good. Numerous agreements were signed and implemented with the Rouhani government in the fields of energy, transport, cultural development, and security. Our relationship has become a symbol of friendship and good neighborliness, Aliyev said.
“When the new government came to power, we asked to stop the illegal activities of Iranian businessmen in Karabakh. Everyone can see what happened in response,” he concluded. -02D-
