Israeli Defense Minister is invited to the forum in Baku
the Defense Minister of Israel Avigdor Lieberman received on Friday representatives of the Nizami Ganjavi International Center , who invited him to the Global Forum in Baku in 2017, said the State Committee of Azerbaijan for Work with the Diaspora. According to the same source, Lieberman was informed about the center of Nizami Ganjavi and the Baku Forum, held since 2003. Lieberman noted that relations between Jerusalem and Baku are very friendly, and stressed that the country's authorities show care and attention to the Jewish community living in Azerbaijan. Earlier, Lieberman repeatedly visited Azerbaijan as a the Israeli Foreign Minister.

On January 17, the Khatai District Court of Baku rejected the requests for house arrest for journalists Aynur Elgünesh and Natig Djavadly, employees of Meydan TV, their lawyers, Elchin Sadigov and Zibeyda Sadigova reported to Turan news agency. According to the lawyers, there are no legal or procedural grounds for keeping the journalists in detention. The journalists themselves stated that the criminal case against them had been fabricated to punish them for their professional activities. The defense intends to appeal the court's refusal to transfer the journalists to house arrest.
