Italian Foreign Minister to discuss in Baku the possibility of increasing gas supplies to Europe
Baku/01.04.22/Turan: On April 1, Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio arrives in Baku, the statement of the Italian Foreign Ministry. In Baku, he will meet with President Ilham Aliyev, Foreign Minister Jeyhun Baramov and Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov, with whom he will discuss issues of oil and gas supplies from Azerbaijan.
"These steps are being taken against the backdrop of Russian aggression against Ukraine and are aimed at accelerating the diversification of energy supplies," the statement said.
The possibility of increasing gas supplies from Azerbaijan through the Trans-Adriatic Gas Pipeline (TAP) will be discussed. Minister Di Maio will also review with his interlocutors priority issues on the bilateral and regional agenda and will co-chair with his colleague Bayramov at the first meeting of the bilateral Strategic Dialogue.
From Baku, Minister Di Maio will leave for Yerevan, the report says. -02B-

According to the Turkish newspaper Sabah, officials from the Istanbul Prosecutor's Office's Anti-Smuggling Unit have detained an Azerbaijani citizen with a large shipment of gold. The detention took place near the Vadi İstanbul shopping center in the Sarıyer district, where a taxi was stopped. During the search, 70 kg of gold was found. The Azerbaijani citizen in the vehicle claimed ownership of the cargo and also stated that he was a diplomat. The investigation by the prosecutor's office is ongoing, reports Sabah newspaper. The media outlet does not disclose the name of the "diplomat," only his initials – M.G.Ş. The Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs has declined to comment on the situation.
