Lachin bypass road to be opened in week
Baku/25.08.22/Turan: Movement of transport on the Lachin corridor alternative road will start within the next week. This was announced on Thursday by the head of the country's State Road Agency, Saleh Mammadov.
"Over 10 months an alternative road has been laid on the territory of Azerbaijan to bypass the city of Lachin with length of 22 km. Another 10 km of the road falls on the territory of Armenia.
By 15 August the Azerbaijani section of the road was fully ready. Since the 10 km section to be built by Armenia is not yet ready, at the request of Karabakh Armenians, Azerbaijan also built a connecting section of 4.8 km.
Over the next week, Armenians will be able to use the new road to go to Khankendi without entering Lachin," Mammadov said.
He did not specify where exactly the additional 4.8 km section lies. However, to all appearances, it will connect the new road with the border of Azerbaijan and Armenia. -06В-
