Lavrov hopes for progress in the settlement the Karabakh conflict
On September 1 the Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov arrived in Baku. He had talks with President Ilham Aliyev. During the conversation, Lavrov praised the cooperation between the two countries within the UN, OSCE, Council of Europe and other international organizations. Referring to the various spheres of bilateral relations, the Russian Foreign Minister said: "Thank you for the excellent organization of the visit of three warships of the Caspian flotilla in Azerbaijan in August. We hope that our Azerbaijani friends will take part in the exhibition of military-technical products, which will be held in the Sverdlovsk region in September this year."
Speaking about the issues of economic cooperation, Russian Foreign Minister said that despite the international situation he is pleased to emphasize the growth of the supply of Azerbaijani agricultural products in Russia. Sergei Lavrov said that the decisions taken by the Azerbaijani side also serve as an increase in international cargo transportation by Russian transport companies, and appreciated it.
Noting that the meeting provided a good opportunity to discuss the terms of bilateral relations, situation in the region, the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Lavrov expressed hope for some progress in resolving this conflict, said the press service of the prezident.-0 -

On Monday, the Baku Appeals Court considered the appeal of Talysh researcher Iqbal Abilov against the extension of his detention for another four months. The defense argued that the decision to extend Abilov's detention was unjustified, lawyer Fariz Namazly told reporters.
