Lawyer: Rauf Mirkadyrov remains optimistic
Lawyers Fuad Agayev and Elmar Suleymanov met on May 21 with their client , journalist Rauf Mirkadirov in the jail of the Ministry of National Security (MNS.) According to Turan Fuad Agayev, during a talk which lasted for an hour and a half, during the conversation with the journalist, different topics were discussed. Rauf Mirkadyrov is concerned about the situation in Ukraine and Azerbaijan, as well as Russia increased pressure on these two countries. He noted that the tension on the Armenian- Azerbaijani front is also connected with Russia.
The lawyer said that Rauf Mirkadirov’s health is normal, he looks to the future with optimism.
Mirkadyrov , spent several years with his family in Ankara, on April 17 the Turkish authorities stopped his accreditation. On April 19 he was deported to Baku and the airport was immediately arrested and charged with spying for Armenia. ( According to the authorities , espionage carried out through Laura Baghdasaryan – head of the NGO in Armenia. She is a partner in the project with Leila Yunus, that was the basis for the authorities to initiate prosecution Yunus and her family.)
Mirkadyrov rejects accusations, calling them politically motivated , refused to testify investigation. He also complains that he was not allowed to contact his family, and is not given the opposition press.-03В04-
