"Lecture" on Human Rightrs from Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Spokesman to US State Department
The head of the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Hikmet Hajiyev promptly reacted to US State Department comments on the persecution of relatives of journalists in Azerbaijan.
Instead of answering a specific question why relatives and friends of those who criticize the government are persecuted, Hajiyev began to moralize about human rights of Americans.
An official from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs declared the rule of law and full democracy in Azerbaijan and recommended to await the decision of the court, making no hasty conclusions.
Next, the state official traditionally reminded infringement of the rights of a million refugees from Armenia and ironically said "the United States has never expressed deep concern about this."
In conclusion, he blamed the US of gross violations of human rights in this country, wiretapping, violating the sovereignty of other countries, sending drones, and carrying out extrajudicial repressions. "At this background, the attempts to look a global defender of human rights may cause only irony," the spokesman said. -02D-
