Mammadyarov Meets with T.Melia
Today, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister, Elmar Mammadyarov, received Thomas Melia, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights and Labor.
During the meeting they discussed the developments in the region, issues of democracy, human rights and freedom of speech.
Melia expressed the interest of the USA in cooperating with Azerbaijan in the above areas, and noted the importance of continued cooperation in these fields.
Mammadyarov also informed the American diplomat about the situation at negotiations on settling the Karabakh conflict.
According to Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry’s press service, the Minister noted increasing efforts by the OSCE Minsk Group and on intensifying the negotiating process.—16D06--

On November 26, the Baku Court of Appeals heard a complaint regarding the extension of the detention of former diplomat Emin Ibrahimov. During the hearing, the investigator requested that the complaint be rejected, while Ibrahimov's lawyer, Aghil Laidj, pointed out the lack of grounds for keeping Ibrahimov in custody.
