Mammadyarov Urges EU to Show Unified Position on Conflicts
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov called on the EU to demonstrate a unified position to all the conflicts in the countries of the Eastern Partnership.
During his speech on April 20 in Luxembourg at a meeting of EU foreign ministers and the Eastern Partnership, Mammadyarov said that all conflicts in the Eastern Partnership begin in a similar scenario leading to such serious consequences as violation of the territorial integrity, occupation and separatism .
He drew attention to the Karabakh conflict remaining unresolved and said it is a direct threat to the European Neighborhood Policy.
"It is time to demonstrate a unified position and solidarity to all the conflicts in the region," said Mammadyarov.
Azerbaijan expects from the EU a clear response to the challenges that exist in the region, consistent with its obligations with respect to the territorial integrity, sovereignty and inviolability of the internationally recognized borders of Azerbaijan, and implementation of the UN Security Council resolutions on the Karabakh conflict, he said.
Mammadyarov said that Azerbaijan has repeatedly stated its readiness to begin work on a large peace agreement to resolve the conflict. -06D-
