Merkel: Germany is ready to support Azerbaijan on the way to democracy
German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, President Ilham Aliyev has sent a congratulatory message on the occasion of the re-election to the post of President of Azerbaijan.
"With great optimism I look at the future development of good relations between our two countries. I am sure that Azerbaijan will be able to fully exploit the potential of close cooperation with the European Union in the framework of the "Eastern Partnership," the message says.
Merkel wishes Aliyev success in building a legal state and democratic society in Azerbaijan. "Germany is ready to be a reliable partner, as it has been so far, to support Azerbaijan on this way," said Merkel.
A congratulatory letter to President Aliyev was sent also by the German Joachim Gauk.—06d--
