MFA: It Is Wrong to Politicize Blogger’s Extradition
“To be a blogger or a journalist does not give any reason to break the law and does not mean the right to inviolability. For this reason, it is wrong to politicize the extradition of the blogger Lapshin or try to show this fact as a violation of the “freedom of speech”.
This was stated by the spokesperson of the Foreign Ministry Hikmet Hajiyev, commenting on the information on the extradition of the Israeli blogger to Azerbaijan.
The MFA spokesman stressed this issue is purely legal, and the hype and discussions created around this issue are unclear and unsubstantiated.
“On the basis of the Chisinau Convention on legal assistance and legal advice in civil, family and criminal matters within the framework of the CIS, adopted in 2002, Azerbaijan has taken the appropriate measures for the extradition of A. Lapshin detained in Belarus,” the MFA spokesman said, accusing Armenia.
“The unjustified and funny activity of Armenia in this issue and the attempt to politicize this question exposes the dirty intentions pursued by Armenia. Armenia fraudulently encourages foreign nationals to visit the occupied territories of Azerbaijan, and then tries to turn these people into its political propaganda tool,” Hajiyev said. –0---
