Milli Majlis Rejected Criticism from the European Parliament

Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan adopted a statement on Friday in which it expressed a negative reaction to the European Parliament resolution of June 13, 2013, containing criticism of official Baku in connection with human rights violations and persecution of political activists.

 
In the text of the statement read out by the Deputy Speaker of MM Valeh Alexkerov EP resolution is regarded as a "blow to bilateral relations and is a step away from the constructive nature of cooperation between the parties."
 
In connection with the MEPs call for the release of opposition leader Ilgar Mamedov MM said in the statement that he and other persons referred to in the resolution "have been arrested in connection with the serious suspicion that they have committed specific crimes." "In any case, all these issues are included in the power of the court, and their release or criminal prosecution will depend on the outcome of the trial," says the statement of the Milli Majlis.
 
At the same time, the MM statement stressed that no power can force Azerbaijan to abandon the democratic path of development. -06D -
