Ministry of Education Reports on Progress over Past Five Years
Baku / 18.12.18 / Turan: The Ministry of Education has prepared an info graphic of the development of education in the country over the past 5 years. It was published on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the State Education Strategy. Statistics notes the dynamics in the number of students enrolled in the first classes of secondary schools.
While in 2013, the number of first-graders was 138 thousand, then this year - more than 165 thousand children. The total number of school students has increased since 2013 by 230 thousand people and exceeded 1.5 million.
For five years, the participants of school competitions increased 5 times, and this year this indicator reached 33 thousand students.
In 2013-2018 Azerbaijani students at international competitions in various subjects won 3 gold, 28 silver and 100 bronze medals.
During this period, the State Program for the Development of Talented Children and Youth was prepared.
According to the international evaluation system PIRLS, the abilities of Azerbaijani students in 2016 were rated 10 points higher compared to 2011.
The number of students who showed "perfect" and "high" results doubled.
The number of graduates of grade IX who received positive marks in all subjects increased from 50 percent to 67 percent.
