Moscow and Ankara declare a common position on Karabakh
Baku/29.12.20/Turan: Turkey is interested in strengthening and deepening interaction with Russia. This was stated by Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu following the meeting of the Joint Strategic Planning Group with Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov in Sochi.
According to Cavusoglu, against the background of the coronavirus infection pandemic, the trade turnover between Turkey and Russia in 2020 decreased by 20%. “It is necessary to quickly prevent this trend. The parties need to continue to take steps to remove obstacles to trade, abolish quotas and restrictions,” Cavusoglu said.
The head of Turkish diplomacy also noted the importance of simplifying the visa regime for Turkish citizens by Russia. “Russian citizens visit Turkey without any visa requirements. We hope for a similar step from the Russian side,” Cavusoglu said.
According to him, the recent events in the South Caucasus are a clear evidence of this. “We stand for long-term peace and stability in the Nagorno-Karabakh issue. We hope that the observation missions in the region will leave a place for an atmosphere of cooperation,” Savusoglu said.
In turn, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the parties discussed the deployment of a joint Monitoring Center in Nagorno-Karabakh to control the implementation of the agreements on November 9. According to him, the parties have "an absolutely unanimous position to prevent" the penetration of foreign mercenaries into this region. " -02D-
