Moscow and Washington on Truce in Karabakh
The United States welcomes the ceasefire agreement between Azerbaijan and the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh, said US State Department spokesman Mark Toner, reports Reuters.
"This agreement is in the nascent stage, but we are pleased to note that it is fixed. And we are actively working with both sides to urge them to adhere strictly to the ceasefire agreement," he said.
The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova said that the central theme at the talks of the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, the Foreign Minister of Iran Mohammad Javad Zarif and the head of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry on April 7 in Baku will be the settlement of the situation in the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh, reports RIA Novosti.
"It is very important to do everything to have the peaceful settlement restarted and the violence stopped. Even before the escalation of the situation a trilateral meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Iran and Russia was planned. Now, this meeting, which was planned in a different format, acquires a completely different character. Naturally, the Karabakh issue will be central," said Zakharova.
At the same time, the Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian has been called to Moscow, where on April 8 he will be received by the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. -02D-
