Moscow resolves issues with peacekeepers in Karabakh with Baku – Russian Foreign Ministry
Baku/30.12.23/Turan: After the anti-terrorist operation in Karabakh, Moscow is considering all issues related to the presence of peacekeepers in the region exclusively with the Azerbaijani side, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin said, as RIA-Novosti reports.
At the same time, he noted that "according to the trilateral statement of the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia dated November 2020, Russian peacekeepers will be in the region until November 2025 with the possibility of further extension of their stay."
According to him, "the agreement remains in force despite the change in the situation in the region after Azerbaijan carried out anti-terrorist measures in September." "No one has canceled this document," the Russian diplomat added.
However, as Galuzin stressed, now the Russian Federation "considers all issues related to the presence of peacekeepers in Karabakh exclusively with the Azerbaijani side." It should be recalled that on December 28, at a press conference following the results of the year, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Ceyhun Bayramov stressed that according to the trilateral statement, "the stay of peacekeepers in Karabakh is envisaged until 2025." –06B-

The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) today issued five rulings on applications from Azerbaijan. The case of "Afgan Mammadov v. Azerbaijan" concerned the complainant's exclusion from the Bar Association. Mammadov was expelled based on a complaint filed by a colleague, which he considered unjust. The ECHR ruled that Mammadov's rights had been violated and ordered Azerbaijan to pay him €5,000 in compensation for moral damage and €1,000 to cover legal costs.
