MP Condemns Arrest of Tofig Yagublu
Baku / 11.09.20 / Turan: “The harsh sentence to Tofig Yagublu is disappointing. His life path and the struggle for the territorial integrity of the country should have been taken into account when passing the sentence. Therefore, the sentence to imprison him for an insignificant domestic incident is unfair,” Milli Majlis deputy, leader of the Civic Solidarity party Sabir Rustamkhanli told Turan.
The arrest of Yagublu provoked a sharp negative reaction from the society and caused protests. Many well-known public figures spoke out in support of Yagublu, demanding his release.
Having lost his health in the Karabakh war, Yagublu is on a hunger strike today, and his life is in danger. “All this cannot but upset, but I believe that public opinion will be taken into account and he will be released,” Rustamkhanli said. -05B-
