National Board: Aliyev seeks to perpetuate the power
The National Council of Democratic Forces (NCDF) strongly condemned the appointment by President Ilham Aliyev his spouse Mehriban Aliyeva as first vice-president. The NCDF regarded this "neo-monarchy appointment" as an insult to the people who 100 years ago created the first in the Muslim world and the eastern Democratic Republic. "The Azerbaijani people are not worthy of such degrading treatment and should stop this serial peaceful struggle," the statement says. The NCDF called intellectuals and democratic community to give an adequate assessment to this step, contrary to law and morality. The appeal notes that in Azerbaijan for almost 50 years has been continued a family rule. Of the 26 years of independence, 24 years are under the reign of Heydar and Ilham Aliyev. After "usurpation of power" by Ilham Aliyev, intensified the family hegemony in all spheres of national life. Currently, Aliyevs family concentrated in the hands all political and economic power. Unlimited presidential power has turned the other branches of power in decoration. Behind all economic decisions are intentions of Aliyevs family to increase their wealth. The NCDF believes that by appointing his wife the first vice-president, Ilham Aliyev, in fact "legitimized" the power of the family, reads the statement of the NCDF. In Aliyevs family has increased the desire to transmit power to each other, and as long as possible to rule by suppressing and humiliating society. -03D-
