National Council supports "Sovetskaya" street
The National Council issued a statement in connection with the demolition of houses in the former "Sovetskaya" street, calling for the protection of the rights of citizens and issue them fair compensation.
The statement noted that the violation of the principle of inviolability of the right to property is a serious concern to residents of Baku, and 80,000 of people are in danger of losing housing and forced evictions.
The authors of the statement believe that all works must be carried out with respect for citizens, and compensation should be fair, because the offered 1,500 manat per 1 square meter is not fair and does not reflect the market price.
Most of the residents of this street have inherited the property and land of their parents. Back in Soviet times, the owners of these houses paid tax for the land. Now they are offered compensation only for housing, not including the cost of land. "We support the people, who defend their legal rights," reads the statement of the National Council. -04D-
