New earthquake in southeastern Turkey kills 6 people
Baku/21.02.23/Turan: Two earthquakes occurred in Hatay province in southern Turkey late on February 20. According to the latest data, 6 people were killed and about 300 injured, the Turkish authorities reported on the morning of February 21.
The first quake with a magnitude of 6.4 was recorded at 20:04 local time, the second with a magnitude of 5.8 – at 20:07. The epicenters were in the areas of Defne and Samandag. The focus of the first earthquake lay at a depth of 16.7 km, the second - 7 km.
The earthquake was also felt in Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, Palestine and Israel.
According to the Emergency Situations Agency AFAD, an empty three-storey building collapsed in the city of Iskenderun. Two more buildings were destroyed in the administrative center of Antalya province. -02D-
