Novruz festivities are canceled, and weddings are recommended to be postponed
Baku / 10.03.20 / Turan: Due to the risk of the spread of coronavirus, the Cabinet of Ministers canceled the holding of mass festivities on Novruz Bayram.
According to the operational headquarters, the ban concerns celebrations both in Baku and in the regions of Azerbaijan. The decision was made in consultation with WHO experts.
Novruz holiday in Azerbaijan is celebrated on March 20. In this regard, from March 20 to 27, non-working days will be in Azerbaijan.
Taking into account the high risk of coronavirus spreading in crowded places, the Operational Headquarters recommended canceling weddings in the coming months, and hold small mourning ceremonies.
The head of the representative office of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Azerbaijan, Hande Harmanchi, believes that Azerbaijan is at the first stage of the spread of coronavirus.
“Authorities can detect the facts of infection already at the border and try to prevent the virus from entering the country,” she said at a press conference.
All governments must report infection within 48 hours. Harmanchi did not rule out that coronavirus would cause deaths in Azerbaijan, as in other countries. —16 --B---
