Novruz Mammadov: We offer EU bilateral agreement for a long time
Azerbaijan does not intend to sign associated agreement with the European Union in Vilnius. Baku supports the conclusion of a bilateral agreement with Brussels, the ANS TV channel was told in interview with Deputy Presidential Administration, Novruz Mammadov.
He refuted the claim that Baku does not want the signing of the association agreement due to pressure from Moscow.
"We have informed the European Union a year ago that we can not accept the Association Agreement. We want to prepare a document which more adequately meets the level of our relations with the European Union," said Mammadov.
Asking the question what will be the parameters of the "partnership agreement" proposed to Brussels, Mammadov was unable to give a clear answer.
"This agreement will reflect the level of bilateral cooperation and provide mutual respect and equality of the parties," he said. With regard to the association agreement, it is possible to become its member only if certain conditions are fulfilled.
Earlier, representatives of Brussels repeatedly accused Baku of ignoring its commitments under the program "Eastern Partnership." In turn , the Azerbaijani authorities indicated that they are willing to cooperate in the economic field, and do not want to take the political commitment. -02D-
