Obama gave billions to protect against Russia
Baku.03.06.14.Turan : Due to the growing tension between the West and Russia over Ukraine, the U.S. President Barack Obama promised to allocate one billion dollars to strengthen the security of Eastern Europe. These funds to be allocated under the " European Initiative for reinsurance" will financed the presence of additional troops of Air Force, Navy and the U.S. Army in the "new allied countries" of Eastern Europe, Obama said during a visit to Warsaw on Tuesday, on June 3.
According to the American president, these funds will also help to strengthen the cooperation between the U.S. and NATO with countries outside the North Atlantic Alliance as Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova, and to strengthen the armed forces of these countries. Previously, Obama has assured Poland and other Eastern European countries in support of the United States. Upon arrival in Warsaw president called security in these countries sacred duty to America and "the cornerstone of our own security," reminds agency AFP.
NATO Secretary General, Anders Fogh Rasmussen, welcomed the plans of Barack Obama. "I support the U.S. leadership in the reinsurance of Eastern European States," he said in Brussels. Fogh Rasmussen said the United States responded quickly to the "illegal military actions" of Russia in Ukraine, adding that he will continue to welcome America's leadership role in the settlement of the Ukrainian crisis. -02D-
