OIC to Establish Contact Group on Karabakh
The Organization of Islamic Cooperation will establish a contact group, which will deal with the settlement of the Karabakh conflict. This was announced by the Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu after the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers in the framework of the 13th OIC Summit.
"Thus, our support to fraternal Azerbaijan will gain institutional nature," he said.
The meeting also discussed the Palestinian issues, said Cavusoglu. According to the Minister, the forum participants exchanged views and proposals relating to ending the Israeli occupation and establishing an independent Palestinian state.
"Today, the Islamic world is facing a number of challenges that must be addressed through dialogue and close cooperation. OIC should strengthen its activities. The Organization of Islamic Cooperation is of great importance for the whole of the Islamic world, our Muslim brothers who are being persecuted and live in difficult conditions. Turkey, along with the work already done, intends to carry out more active work in this direction in the framework of the OIC and as the Presidency of the organization," Cavusoglu said. -02D-
