Opposition members detained in Gedabey region
Late in the evening on 9 September, police detained the chairman of Gedabey branch of the Classic Popular Front, Ceyhun Jafarov, and the adviser of the chairman of the party, Ali Abdullayev.
According to the press service of the party, it has been done in order to prevent their pre-election work. Local authorities ordered to detain them.
The police of Gedabey region told Turan that there was a report from the traffic police for the both detained, allegedly they were drunk, and did not obey the police.
On the basis of the report Ceyhun Jafarov and Ali Abdullayev were arrested around midnight. The case is currently being prepared for submission to the court.
The party Classic Popular Front believes that by such methods the authorities neutralize the most active opposition members to minimize the influence of the opposition to the voters, and to scare those who could potentially vote in presidential elections for the opposition candidate.–03B04-

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has not ruled out the possibility of Baku playing a role in resolving the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
