Opposition Rally Rescheduled for November 9
A meeting of the National Council of Democratic Forces (NCDF) demanding the release of political prisoners and European integration has been moved from 10 to 9 November. This decision was taken due to the fact that the Executive Power of Baku sanctioned the action on Sunday.
As the Deputy Chairman of the Azerbaijan Popular Front Party Fuad Gahramanli said, despite the fact that on November 6 he was officially informed by the City Hall on the appointment of the meeting on 10 November, today, an official letter stated that the action should be held on Sunday from 15.00 to 17.00 at the stadium Mehsul near the metro station Inshaatchilar.
The National Council regarded it as "a provocation of the authorities" in order to mislead the opposition and limit the time to prepare for the event.
However, the National Council intends to hold the rally on 9 November.
In turn, the Baku police warned the organizers of the inadmissibility of appeals beyond the declared slogans during the rally, and the inadmissibility of actions violating public order. -06D--
