Parliament amended the law "On the Prosecutor's Office"
Baku / 18.11.17 / Turan: The Constitution excludes the dependence of the prosecutor's office on the legislation and any executive body. On Friday, this change was made at a meeting of the Milli Majlis in Article 44 of the law "On the Prosecutor's Office," the press service of the MM reported. The current Article 44 states that the Prosecutor General of Azerbaijan regularly informs the President of the country about the activities of the Prosecutor's Office.
After the amendments, the text has changed significantly. The changed version reads: "In accordance with the Constitution, state power is organized on the basis of the principle of separation of power. Legislative power is exercised by the Milli Majlis, executive power refers to the president, judicial power is exercised by the courts of Azerbaijan.
The Prosecutor's Office of Azerbaijan, which is part of the judicial system, is a single centralized body. The Constitution excludes any dependence of the prosecutor's office on legislative and executive bodies."
Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee for Legal Policy and State Building Ali Huseynli noted that with the aim of improving the legislation, changes were made in accordance with the proposal of the "Group of States against Corruption" of the Council of Europe (GRECO).
In addition, the Milli Majlis has amended the law "On the passage of service in the prosecutor's office." These changes are related to the attestation and activities of prosecutors. -0-
