Pashinyan on the need for regional cooperation and the strategic mistakes of Armenians
Baku/24.08.21/Turan: Overcoming hostility in the region can become an important, key component of Armenia's foreign policy, Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated on August 24, speaking in parliament.
According to him, deepening hostility is a threat to the stability and security of the region. Armenia's efforts aimed at unblocking regional communications and demonstrating a constructive approach on the other hand will lead to the formation of an atmosphere of peaceful and mutually beneficial cooperation. From this point of view, the key is the full implementation of the points of the tripartite statement of November 9 and January 11, he said.
“This is a regional issue, and I believe that overcoming the atmosphere of hostility in the region can become the core of our regional foreign policy and cooperation, which may also be of interest to other countries in our region. This issue may not interest them, but even in this case it should remain on our agenda,” Pashinyan said.
He also noted that the inconsistency of Yerevan's position on the Karabakh settlement caused significant harm, and the Armenian side did not think what would happen if it did not achieve its goal.
“The rhetoric of Azerbaijan was the same everywhere and always, while the approaches of Armenia inside the country, in the external environment and at the negotiating table were different. There was no answer to the question: what are we going to do if we fail to reach an acceptable solution for us at the negotiating table? This systemic problem has had a serious impact on the situation,” Pashinyan said. -02D-
